Job Title: Sr. Medical Director
Description:
Supervise a team of physicians and project leaders to define and implement clinical trials of sorafenib in new indications. Define and implement processes for assuring alignment of clinical strategies with commercialization objectives. Define and implement a system for peer scientific review of standards of care, new study concepts and final clinical protocols. Oversee clinical contribution to Onyx’ review of partner led programs. Define and implement processes to initiate, conduct, analyze and report clinical trials of new indications.
Responsibilities:
- Hire physicians and project leadership/management staff with appropriate technical and management backgrounds. Define job specifications, recruiting, interviewing and candidate selection processes.
- Set performance standards for individuals, teams and processes. Measure performance against planned objectives
- Develop processes to facilitate team function, communication and decision making.
- Represent the New Indications team in interactions with Bayer and partner with their team members for projects they lead.
- Oversee peer scientific review processes to assure that an accurate, balanced view of available literature is synthesized and presented for management decision making.
- Partner with key function heads inside and outside the Development organization to ensure effective implementation of clinical trials for new indications.
Serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary Development Leadership team. In collaboration with Head of Breast Program, Biostatistics, Clinical Operations, Regulatory and Alliance Management leadership, assure that the Development team’s responsibilities for achieving corporate goals are met.
Job Requirements:

Minimum of five plus years related clinical development experience

Must have a solid understanding of drug development and life-cycle management
- Experience supervising technical and managerial staff over a wide range of accountabilities in development.
- Experience developing and successfully implementing new processes of development
- Experience as a member of a senior management team responsible for achieving corporate goals.
- Ability to understand, interpret and explain scientific research and literature
- Ability to relate and work with a wide range of people to achieve results
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to build working relations throughout the organization and with business partners to achieve business goals
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
- Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with thought leaders and to establish trust through the consistent demonstration of scientific expertise and satisfactory follow-through to requests from thought-leaders
